About this project

The TypeSafe AI Ruby library provides convenient access to the TypeSafe System One API from applications written in Ruby. Send state and typed questions to Jev, and get back structured answers with probabilities and confidence that your code can use directly. See the TypeSafe documentation for the concepts behind the API. Add this line to your application's Gemfile: No runtime dependencies beyond the Ruby standard library. Get an API key from the TypeSafe console and export it as TYPESAFEAPIKEY:

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Installs as `typesafe-ai-ruby` on Ruby 3.1 or newer with no runtime dependencies beyond stdlib.
  • Reads `TYPESAFE_API_KEY` automatically; `TypeSafe::Client.new` takes no arguments unless overriding.
  • Reuses frozen `TypeSafe::Noul`, `Choice`, and `Score` constants; extra question keys pass through untouched.
  • Retries 408, 429, 5xx, connection errors, and timeouts twice with backoff honoring `Retry-After`.

Watch out

No Rails-specific code is included; configure the default client in an initializer and layer ActiveJob retries on top. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Closed weights have not stopped the ecosystem from rebuilding the shape in the open. API-compatible servers, retrained heads on small models, and inference-time tricks that skip generation entirely.
