About this project

An async-first Rust client for the TypeSafe AI API. It provides typed System One questions and answers, model discovery, configurable retries, structured errors, and an optional blocking client. Tokio when using the default asynchronous client. The crate is not yet published to crates.io. To use a local checkout: Set your API key without committing it to source control: Then create a client and send a System One request: Question collections can be built once and reused:

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Builds System One requests with Noul, Choice, and Score builders plus reusable Questions collections keyed by answer name.
  • Configures API key, base URL, and default model from the environment with builder precedence and per-call overrides.
  • Retries transient failures by default with a replaceable RetryPolicy and preserves raw status, headers, body, and request ID.
  • Emits tracing events without installing a subscriber and redacts sensitive headers from diagnostic output.

Watch out

Community client not on crates.io, so it is consumed as a path dependency; the live test makes billable calls and stays ignored by default. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Original write-ups on what this entry is for.

Closed weights have not stopped the ecosystem from rebuilding the shape in the open. API-compatible servers, retrained heads on small models, and inference-time tricks that skip generation entirely.
