About this project

an unofficial go SDK for the typesafe AI API, inspired by the official typescript and python clients. independently maintained, with no affiliation with typesafe. requires go 1.22 or newer. no third-party dependencies. create an api key in the typesafe console, then set TYPESAFEAPIKEY. the module path is github.com/cole-gillespie/typesafe-go. after the repository is published, install it with: run the included example from this repository:

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Typed accessors error on a missing field or a mismatched answer type instead of returning zero, and `SystemOne` checks every answer it requested.
  • Two retries after the first attempt on connection failures, attempt timeouts, 408, 429 and 5xx, with backoff from 500ms to 5s and up to 25% jitter subtracted.
  • A retry can resubmit an evaluation the server already processed: the README states there is no idempotency guarantee.
  • Not a feature-for-feature port: logging and arbitrary extra request-body fields are not exposed, and `*typesafe.APIError` keeps the body and headers.

Watch out

It is explicitly not affiliated with TypeSafe and not a feature-for-feature port: logging and arbitrary extra request-body fields are not exposed. The README asks you to install it with `go get` only after the repository is published, and says live service compatibility still needs verification with a real key, since tests use local HTTP servers and synthetic responses. Score questions require at least two levels, indexed from zero. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Closed weights have not stopped the ecosystem from rebuilding the shape in the open. API-compatible servers, retrained heads on small models, and inference-time tricks that skip generation entirely.
