This is one of several Jev listings for the same project. The canonical entry is TypeSafe AI — api-evangelist.

About this project

Typed Elixir client for TypeSafe AI and its Jev System One model, with offline test stubs, concurrent fan-out, and atom-keyed answers. Unofficial; not affiliated with TypeSafe AI. Sign up for an API key at typesafe.ai. No key yet? Skip to Testing your code: TypeSafeAPI.Test runs every example on this page offline, no key or network required.

Highlights

  • Typed question structs in and typed answer structs out, with a raw TypeSafeAPI.HTTP layer underneath for parts of the API it does not model.
  • evaluate_many/4 encodes the question set once and returns results in input order; a failing state yields {:error, _} instead of killing the batch.
  • Retries mirror the official SDKs, except connection errors and timeouts on POST /v1/systemone are not replayed by default, to avoid double-billing.
  • TypeSafeAPI.Test stubs answers by question id offline, and a question you forget to stub comes back as a 422 validation error, not an exception.

Watch out

The version line is 0.1.0-alpha.3 and Elixir 1.18 or newer is required, because it uses the built-in JSON module. jev-latest is a pinned alias, not a model id: the API resolves it to a versioned id such as jev-1.13.0 and that is what result.model reports, so pin through models/1 if you need stability. max_concurrency defaults to 8 and the README calls that a guess, since TypeSafe has not published rate limits. Test stubs build responses with Req.Test and Plug.Conn, so plug has to be in your test dependencies or a stubbed call raises UndefinedFunctionError for Plug.Conn rather than anything mentioning TypeSafeAPI.Test. A stubbed confidence must beat the uniform baseline of 1 / n or the answer decodes to a different option. The README we reviewed is cut off partway through the test-stubs section, so the stub-composition helpers, the linked guides and the live examples beyond that point are not documented here. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Closed weights have not stopped the ecosystem from rebuilding the shape in the open. API-compatible servers, retrained heads on small models, and inference-time tricks that skip generation entirely.
