Highlights

MIT-licensed. A community client, not an official TypeSafe SDK; needs Go and an API key, ListModels is TypeSafe-only, and Vercel support follows an experimental Gateway contract that may need SDK updates.

Yes, in one specific way. Go will not infer heterogeneous map values the way the JavaScript SDK infers answer types from its TypeScript question map, so this client uses an explicit answer discriminator plus ordinary Go fields. You check an answer's Type before reading its type-specific fields, and missing or malformed fields surface as errors rather than a mistaken zero.
It is community-maintained, not an official TypeSafe SDK. The Vercel path uses Gateway's Evaluation v4 transport and normalizes Gateway boolean answers into the same Noul answer the TypeSafe provider returns, and the docs treat that contract as experimental enough to need SDK updates; ListModels is TypeSafe-only. It does state a standard-library-only dependency set and an 85% coverage gate with race testing.
Not by default: the SDK never reads environment variables unless you set ReadFromEnvironment: true. With it enabled the TypeSafe provider falls back to TYPESAFE_API_KEY, TYPESAFE_BASE_URL, and TYPESAFE_DEFAULT_MODEL, and the Vercel provider reads only AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY. Non-HTTPS custom endpoints are allowed only on loopback, and the client never follows redirects with the bearer token attached.
The default policy makes up to two retries for connection failures, per-attempt timeouts, and HTTP 408, 429 and 5xx responses including 529, with jittered exponential backoff honoring Retry-After and Retry-After-Ms up to one minute. Cancelling the caller's context interrupts both the in-flight request and any pending backoff. Set Retry: &RetryPolicy{MaxRetries: 0} to disable retries entirely.
go get github.com/stumble/jev-go for the SDK, or go install github.com/stumble/jev-go/cmd/jev@latest for the CLI. Provide TYPESAFE_API_KEY for the direct provider or AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY for Vercel through your server-side configuration. It is an independent, community-maintained client, not an official TypeSafe SDK.
No. By default the SDK never reads environment variables; pass settings from your application's configuration, or explicitly set ReadFromEnvironment: true. Then the TypeSafe provider falls back to TYPESAFE_API_KEY, TYPESAFE_BASE_URL and TYPESAFE_DEFAULT_MODEL, and the Vercel provider to AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY.
Select ProviderVercel with AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY. The client uses Gateway's Evaluation v4 transport and normalizes its boolean answers to the same Noul answer the TypeSafe provider exposes. GatewayOptions exposes ZeroDataRetention and DisallowPromptTraining for the request.
