Jev, TypeSafe's model, works out what each post is for, such as a job change, a launch, a humblebrag, or a request for likes, and the extension writes a fixed sentence from that classification. Jev does not write the sentence.
Download in-other-words-v1.1.0.zip from Releases and unzip it, open chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode, click Load unpacked, and choose the unzipped folder. It is not on the Chrome Web Store.
You need a TypeSafe API key from console.typesafe.ai. The README estimates each post at roughly 3,000 tokens, about 13 cents per 1,000 new posts at Jev's listed price, calculated from request size rather than a bill.
Only the text of each long post, sent to TypeSafe's API with your key. Author names, images, links, and your account details stay local, the key is not synced, and results are cached so a post is only sent once.
Posts Jev is unsure about, posts with real substance, and posts about grief or illness. The confidence threshold and the shortest post it will bother with are configurable in the settings page.
Yes. Every kind of post and its sentences live in extension/lib/intents.js, where changing a says line changes the wording. If LinkedIn changes its layout the popup reports no posts found, and the selectors at the top of the extension file need updating.
