On Windows, download the Emc2-<version>-win-x64.exe installer from Releases and connect accounts in Settings. On macOS the README recommends building from source: install Node.js 24+, clone the repo, run npm ci and npm run package:mac:dir, and verify the ad hoc signature before opening the app.
With MCP enabled, AI clients can read synced mail and reply through the running app at http://127.0.0.1:32145/mcp. Tools include list_accounts, list_emails, search_emails, read_email, get_thread, reply_to_email, archive_email and mark_read; sending is separately opt-in.
