Jev Inbox for Gmail

It reorders the message list Gmail already renders, on screen only: unread mail moves to the top and the messages that matter most sit above the rest, with chips for your own labels. A thin bar above the list shows the unread count, in-flight progress, and errors.

Clone the repository, run npm install and npm run build, then open chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and select the dist folder. Open the extension popup to finish setup, including choosing views, provider, labels, and the confidence a row needs to count as critical.

Either Vercel AI Gateway, with a key created in the Vercel dashboard, or TypeSafe, with a key from docs.typesafe.ai. Pick the provider in the popup and paste the key. Test connection runs one tiny classification on a fixed dummy state and reports the result inline.

Only row metadata: sender display name, sender address, subject, the snippet Gmail renders, and the date, sent to the provider you chose under your own key, plus your label names and descriptions as the criteria. Bodies and attachments are never read and never sent.

Each label has a name that becomes a chip and a description that becomes the question Jev answers, so both are sent with each row's classification and you should not put sensitive information in them. A label needs both fields to save, and the list is capped at 15.

Rows go in batches of 20 to the service worker, which asks Jev a critical question with concrete criteria - a person waiting on a reply, money or legal matters, a hard deadline, a security or account event - and an urgency score. A row counts as critical when its critical probability reaches the sensitivity you set.

No: nothing moves in Gmail's own DOM, and results are cached in chrome.storage.local across renders and tabs, bounded to 5000 entries. Clearing the cache, editing a label, or switching providers sends the current list's unread rows through classification again.
