About this project

Two AI models play Tetris against each other in real time. Jev, TypeSafe's System One model, faces Claude Haiku 4.5, Gemini 3.8 Flash, or Laya, an open-weight typed-decision model running on your own machine. Same piece sequence, same options, same clock. Every line you clear lands on your opponent's board as a garbage row. Whoever tops out first loses.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Same seeded sequence and shared gravity for both sides, with missed deadlines locking pieces in place.
  • Choice over enumerated legal placements for Jev and Laya, forced place_piece call for API opponents.
  • Live stats per board for lines, latency, missed deadlines, tokens, and cost per move.
  • Extra modes for solo play, human-versus-Jev, lockstep comparison, and a present layout for recordings.

Watch out

Needs a TypeSafe key plus an Anthropic or Gemini key for hosted opponents; Laya needs its local server on localhost. Gravity and versus toggles change whether speed or placement quality is compared. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
