About this project

A racing game where TypeSafe's Jev drives an F1 car live, and you can race it. You need uv and a TypeSafe API key from console.typesafe.ai (Jev is in early access, so you may have to join the waitlist first). uv installs Python and the dependencies itself. Then open and press Start race. Tick Race Jev yourself to drive your own car with the arrow keys (C switches the camera). The default 8 laps lets you watch the race engineer find the limit of every corner.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Sends telemetry-as-words and asks three questions in one request each cycle.
  • Jev picks racing line and pedals; code handles steering and braking rates.
  • Code-only timing loop walks per-corner target speeds from 80% to 130%.
  • You can race the Jev car with arrows, camera key, and configurable laps.

Watch out

The race pauses when the tab hides and every race stops at 10 minutes, with the key kept in server-side .env so the browser never sees it. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
