Slither-Me-Jev

Snake arena where every AI snake is steered live by Jev: one call per tick sends a `choice` question per snake and gets a move plus a probability back for all of them at once.

About this project

8 AI snakes, 1 human, 1 arena. Every AI snake is driven live by TypeSafe's Jev model — one call per game tick decides all 7 (or 8) moves in parallel, with each snake's confidence shown floating over its head.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • The game only offers legal moves as options, so a snake cannot pick something the engine has already ruled out.
  • The hard facts are computed in code, not asked of the model: distance to food, distance to enemy head, open space.
  • Each snake has a personality, from Psycho that hunts to Greedy that chases food and Coward that avoids fights.
  • No build step and no framework: vanilla JS plus canvas, with a small Express server acting as the Jev bridge.

Watch out

Spend scales with how long you play rather than with a fixed demo: every tick is a live call carrying one choice question per AI snake. Calls do stop on the start screen, the win screen, while paused and while the tab is hidden, which is the main lever you have. The README is short and publishes no latency or cost measurements, so the odds overlay is the only signal you get about how the model is doing. The odds tags are display-only, and the README documents no mock or offline path, so a TypeSafe key is needed to see the AI snakes move. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
