Jev Music

An experimental web app where Jev — handed typed chord questions, not text — improvises piano: describe a mood like a slow, sad waltz and it decides harmony, metre and tempo bar by bar. Live at jev-piano.zammitpaul.com.

Minimal Jev metadata workbench for local music files: a FastAPI backend sends track metadata and scoring questions to TypeSafe Jev and can write the chosen genre or language back with Mutagen, behind a small React page for editing prompts and questions.

A music pattern ripper: it tokenizes a MIDI file into an interval string, mines repeating units in code, and has Jev grade each candidate's musical significance in one batched call, then draws and plays the results in a web UI with WAV and JSON export.

An experiment in two parts, done in one day: SATB part-writing exercises given to Jev with no musical hints and graded by rules, compared with Claude models on accuracy and cost, plus a piano mode where Jev picks chords forever.
