The number is arithmetic over Jev's rubric positions: 70% section quality, 20% composition, 10% local on-page checks, with each section weighted by the square root of its word count so neither a fragment nor one huge block dominates.
Rubric position, not confidence. Jev answers score questions against five explicit ordered anchors, and the 0 to 4 result is multiplied by 25 to land on 0 to 100. The README is explicit that these values are rubric positions and not confidence probabilities, so nothing in the badge tells you how sure the model was.
No. Analyze sections is the consent step, and only then is that page's extracted content sent for evaluation. The Vercel AI Gateway key lives in extension-local storage and is not encrypted, requests go through the gateway so gateway credits and Jev access may be required, and the extension requests activeTab only, never all-sites access.
Just scores it. Jev does not generate rewrites or free-form advice; the fixed improvement guidance and all five anchors for every metric live in lib/rubric.ts. Assess whole page is optional and only offered once every section is scored and the full text fits inside 60,000 characters, so a long page gets section scores and a clearly labeled scored-sections average instead of a fabricated whole-page grade.
It needs Bun and Chrome 120 or newer for Manifest V3. Run bun install --frozen-lockfile then bun run build, enable Developer mode in chrome://extensions, click Load unpacked, and select .output/chrome-mv3. Save a Vercel AI Gateway key under Connection before analyzing.
The first main or role=main element, else the first article, else body, using headings and section boundaries without double-counting nested text. It excludes navigation, footers, sidebars, forms, controls, hidden content, scripts, and iframes, and does not inspect images, video meaning, canvas, or shadow DOM.
Sections longer than 6,000 characters are split at word boundaries and averaged by character count. Safety guards cap extraction at 250 sections, 2 million characters, and 100,000 visited DOM nodes; hitting a guard is disclosed and blocks whole-page assessment. At most two model requests run concurrently.
