jevlint (Jev query linter)

A linter for Jev queries that takes the request you would send to System One — a state and the questions asked about it — and reports where the query is written in a way the model is documented to handle badly. Static checks run free without a key; the rest ask Jev.

Highlights

  • Three implementations share one catalogue of checks: PHP (composer), JavaScript (npm @phox-js/jevlint) and Python (pip jevlint, 3.10+).
  • check --static-only needs no key and makes no calls; the full check spends two Jev calls per question plus two for the query.
  • --openrouter sends the checks through OpenRouter instead and reads OPENROUTER_API_KEY from the environment.
  • Worked examples on the site show three queries with a defect, the report for each, and the same query rewritten.
  • Install as a dev dependency with composer require --dev phox/jevlint (PHP 8.3+) or npm install --save-dev @phox-js/jevlint (Node 20.19+).

Quickstart

bash
composer install
./jevlint check examples/broken-triage.json --static-only

Watch out

Grounded in the truncated repo README and GitHub metadata read on 2026-10-15. The README does not publish accuracy figures for its checks, and its linked evidence and limitations pages were not captured; per-check cost is stated only in API calls, not money.
