Describe the change you want in one sentence and it classifies every diff hunk as include, exclude or mixed, prints the plan, then stages the hunks you confirm. It never writes the commit.

Describe the change to stage in one sentence. git-jev-stage classifies each block of changed lines (a Git hunk), shows the plan, and stages the selected blocks after confirmation in interactive mode. It only stages. Working files stay as they are, and the commit and its message are yours to write. Git 2.30 or newer, Node 22 or newer. Run it inside a Git repository with at least one commit. A working tree contains an auth fix, a CSS tweak, and a leftover console.log.
Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.
Watch out
Because a hunk is staged whole, a hunk containing both wanted and unwanted lines is always mixed and needs a manual decision. Untracked files are excluded until you run git add -N, renames show up as a deletion plus an addition that can be staged separately, and binary, symlink or submodule changes abort the run. Empty new files and mode-only changes are listed as skipped. Exit code 3 covers a stale plan or a locked index, and the run must be repeated. The staging sentence, exclusion sentence, paths, hunk headers and hunk text all go to api.typesafe.ai. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
