About this project

pi-jev-router is a pi extension. It classifies each task with Jev (TypeSafe System One, called through OpenRouter) and routes the task to an OpenRouter model. The pick balances quality, cost and latency, and follows a role policy for planning, code and writing. The default mode is shadow: the router records what it would pick and does not switch. Use /router auto or /router auto --dry-run N to let it switch.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Shadow by default records the pick without switching; auto and dry-run modes allow controlled switching.
  • One Jev call per task for category, complexity, risk, brief, and decompose, with continuation fast path.
  • Hard gates for tool support, context, pricing, and measured pass rates relax in fixed order with ledger notes.
  • Every decision appends model pick, active model, classifier answers, and context to decisions.jsonl.

Watch out

Budget covers main session, classifier calls, and workers; at cap it picks the cheapest frontier model and a pin does not override it. Dispatch outcomes are recorded but not yet used as evidence. Reloads happen on long sessions. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Model router that asks Jev eleven questions in one call and lets a YAML policy turn the answers into a tier. Every request starts on the fast tier and only escalates on evidence such as multi-step reasoning, hard difficulty, high stakes or safety, and every decision is logged without the message text.

Two pi extensions driven by Jev judgments: one replaces summary-based context compaction with keep, drop and shorten calls, the other scores each prompt for difficulty and switches pi's model before the turn runs.
