About this project

Idiomatic, unofficial Elixir client for the TypeSafe AI API. Add :extypesafeai to your dependencies in mix.exs: Set TYPESAFEAPIKEY in your environment, build a client, and ask questions about some state: Learn what TypeSafe is, what it can do, and how to use it in the TypeSafe docs. TypeSafe.new/1 returns an immutable TypeSafe.Client value — build it once and share it across processes. Explicit options take precedence over environment variables.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Add {:ex_typesafe_ai, "~> 0.2"}, set TYPESAFE_API_KEY, then call TypeSafe.system_one with noul, choice, and score questions.
  • TypeSafe.new returns an immutable client, or start it under a supervision tree by name with lock-free reads.
  • Typed responses expose noul probabilities, choice labels, score values, usage counts, and request ids.
  • Automatic retries on 408, 429, 5xx, and transport errors with backoff, plus Req.Test stubbing via :plug.

Watch out

Unofficial community client, not affiliated with TypeSafe AI; needs a valid API key to do anything. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Closed weights have not stopped the ecosystem from rebuilding the shape in the open. API-compatible servers, retrained heads on small models, and inference-time tricks that skip generation entirely.
