Questions about this entry
Short answers drawn from the linked project or page.
It runs a round every two minutes: it polls Hacker News for new stories, skips ones it has already processed, fetches the content for the rest, evaluates them, and sends the matches to Telegram.
JEV_API_KEY for the Typesafe Jev model, TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN for the bot, and TELEGRAM_CHAT_ID for the destination chat or channel are required. TELEGRAM_ERROR_CHAT_ID is optional and receives alerts for hndelegate errors.
They are stored in a SQLite database and are fully customisable. The DB_PATH variable sets the directory holding the database, defaulting to the current directory, and the database is created if none exists.
No. You must add at least one decision tree to the database before hndelegate will run, and the project points to a Decisions document explaining how trees are defined.
MAX_ITEMS_PER_ROUND caps how many posts are processed per two-minute round and defaults to 20. Posts skipped because of that cap are dropped completely rather than queued for later.
You need Go 1.27+ and a C compiler, which is required to compile go-sqlite3. After cloning the repository you build a binary with go build, and all required environment variables must be populated before running it.
Pull uint4096/hndelegate:latest and run it with an env file. To persist the SQLite database between runs, mount a volume so that a host directory maps to /root/.config/hndelegate.
