Hunch — HAR5HA-7663

Browser agent that takes one Jev decision per action on top of agent-browser and only calls an LLM when confidence drops, escalating instead of guessing, with values, origins and irreversible clicks all guarded in code.

This is one of several Jev listings for the same project. The canonical entry is Hunch — carldaws.

About this project

A browser agent that acts on a hunch, and asks for help when the hunch is weak. Every click is one 150 ms decision from Jev , TypeSafe's System One model, running on top of agent-browser . An LLM is only needed when confidence drops. Real time, not sped up. Four Jev decisions, 675 ms of "thinking" in total, success verified in code.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Median 153ms per decision at 24/24 correct, against 678ms for gpt-4o-mini which was also 24/24 on the same four states.
  • One request carries several heads: operation, click target, type target and value, plus an irreversibility probability.
  • Seven guards live in code, including a 0.75 confidence floor, an origin allow-list and two independent click-risk signals.
  • Exit code 2 returns a structured escalate report with visible text, history and elements, meant for a human or an LLM.

Watch out

The latency numbers come from one simple task on one machine, and the author says to read them honestly: both models got every decision right, so the difference is latency and cost rather than accuracy. A full step also pays roughly 330ms of element-table overhead and about 170ms for the action, which are model-independent and shrink the end-to-end gain below the per-decision gap. Jev does not generate text, so hunch can only type values you pass, and it reads literally — counting, dates and multi-hop reasoning need an LLM. Jev is not deterministic and a probability can move about ±0.05 between calls, which is why the confidence gate has margin. Unsupported today: select elements, file uploads, iframes, shadow DOM, canvas apps, drag and drop and pop-up tabs. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
