About this project

Claude Code plugin that replaces the compaction summary with Jev decisions: every tool call and result is scored in one fast request, stale ones are dropped or truncated, everything kept stays verbatim. Also usable as an npm library.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Every non-pinned tool call gets two Noul questions: should the call stay, and should the result stay verbatim.
  • State is fitted to 25k tokens in stages, truncating inputs and abridging old texts before anything is sent.
  • Requests are split under a 30k token cap, run concurrently, and their answers are merged back per call.
  • A message that loses all its content is removed, and no result is ever left without its call.

Quickstart

ts
import { compactMessages, reductionRatio } from 'fast-jev-compaction';

const result = await compactMessages(transcript, { preserveRecentMessages: 4 });
console.log(result.messages, result.decisions, result.stats);
if (reductionRatio(result) < 0.25) {
  // not worth it: keep the original transcript, or summarize instead
}

Watch out

MIT-licensed. Needs a TypeSafe key and Claude Code for the plugin; Jev failures or a history that cannot be fitted throw and leave the fallback to the caller.

A Codex plugin and npm library that wraps native session compaction: Jev scores every tool call and result, and the verbatim history it keeps is re-injected after Codex summarizes. The README does not recommend using it.

A Claude Code plugin and npm library that replaces the LLM compaction summary with Jev decisions: each tool call and result is scored, stale ones are dropped or truncated, and everything kept stays verbatim. A fork adds jev-compact and jev-gate CLIs that run through OpenRouter.
