Jev Shield — caiovicentino

Proxy that sits between any MCP client and any stdio MCP server and screens tool calls, tool results and tool descriptions with Jev probabilities, layering deterministic allowlists, semantic checks and session taint tracking over a JSONL audit trail.

About this project

Semantic MCP firewall powered by Jev — a System One verification model. Sits between any MCP client and any MCP server (stdio) and screens, with calibrated probabilities, every tool call, every tool result, and every tool description.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Three layers: structural allowlists and required flags, one Jev call per event at about $0.00003, then taint tracking that escalates policy.
  • The bundled demo runs a deliberately vulnerable MCP server through eight stages and reports 10 verifications for $0.0003 total at 558 ms median latency.
  • Thresholds live in `config/policies.json` as code, so review at 0.35, act at 0.7 and `severity_block` at 2.0 change in review, not in a prompt.
  • Enforcement is opt-in and separate from the cooperative skill: Claude Code PreToolUse and PostToolUse hooks, an opencode plugin, and `wrap` for Codex.

Watch out

The README calls this a probabilistic signal layer and explicitly not a security boundary, so sandboxing, least privilege and human approval still apply to high-stakes actions. Each check adds roughly 0.5 to 1.3 seconds to a tool call, the per-request state budget is about 32k tokens so large tool outputs are truncated before screening, and the model layer depends on TypeSafe early access pricing through AI Gateway. Only stdio servers are wrapped; HTTP and SSE transports are on the roadmap. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
