Jev Linkedin Slop Filter

A Chrome extension that stamps every LinkedIn post it sees as BAIT, CORP or BRAG with the confidence score on the stamp, leaving the post readable underneath. Judgements come from Jev, branch on a number, and never parse prose.

About this project

Judges every LinkedIn post as it scrolls into view and slams a rubber stamp on it — BAIT, CORP, or BRAG — with the confidence score printed on the stamp. The post stays readable underneath. Decisions come from Jev, TypeSafe's System One model. It returns a typed probability instead of text, so the extension branches on a number rather than parsing prose. You need Node 20+, Chrome, and a TypeSafe API key from typesafe.ai. Turn on Developer mode (top right) Load unpacked → pick the extension/ folder.

Highlights

  • Local keyword rules settle the obvious cases for free; only genuinely ambiguous posts reach Jev, and results cache per post.
  • Thresholds are is_slop at 0.60 and is_corporate_slop at 0.70, fitted to the exact wording in server/jev.js and re-runnable.
  • The API key lives in a local proxy on 127.0.0.1:8787 and never reaches the browser, which is also why it is not on the Web Store.
  • If the proxy is down or Jev errors, every post stays visible, because a broken judgement must never hide a real post.

Watch out

The accuracy figures come from 14 labelled samples in test/samples.json, split four engagement bait, four genuine, three corporate PR and three ambiguous, which is a small set to fit two thresholds on; the author is direct that Jev's default 0.5 underperforms and that you should fit your own against labelled data rather than inherit these. Behaviour is English only, and Jev is weaker in other languages and will need per-locale thresholds. Judgements are text only, so image and video posts are judged on their caption or skipped. There is no explanation: Jev returns a score and never a reason, so the stamp shows the number and cannot say which sentence convicted a post. LinkedIn hashes and rotates its class names every build, and the only durable hook is an attribute selector on the main feed component, so that is the first thing to check if stamps stop appearing. The stamp animation honours prefers-reduced-motion and uses transform and opacity only. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
