About this project

A standalone text moderation service for applications that want to keep moderation out of their codebase. Send text over HTTP or RabbitMQ; receive an allow, review, or block decision with per-class reasons and the policy version. Built in Go, backed by Jev, and licensed under MIT. Jev is an external service: you need a Typesafe API key, and submitted text is sent to that provider. This project does not include a human review UI or store moderation decisions.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • POST /v1/moderate for one item, GET /v1/policy for active policy, plus liveness and readiness probes.
  • Policy in config/policy.json is read and validated per item; bundled policy is an example to evaluate first.
  • Queue workers use prefetch 1, confirms, manual acks, and up to four retries with 1/2/4-second delays.
  • At-least-once delivery with dead-letter queue; HTTP bodies limited to 1 MiB and text to 100,000 bytes.

Watch out

Needs a Typesafe API key with submitted text sent to the provider; no review UI and no stored decisions. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

The request shape barely changes across surfaces; the surrounding contract does. When to call the API directly and when a gateway, a Worker binding, or a router entry earns its extra hop.
