How is this safer than a keyword list for verification codes?

It asks whether each message is noise and suppresses only what the model explicitly flags. Everything uncertain resolves to ALLOW in one DecisionMapper, including network failure, missing credentials, timeouts, HTTP errors, and out-of-space categories.

What leaves my phone when a verification code arrives?

Nothing is sent at all. A local OtpGate matches verification-code shapes first and allows the message with no request, and the diagnostics screen reports an upload count so the claim is observable.

Why do I still glimpse blocked notifications briefly?

You cannot decide before it appears without blocking the system callback. The decision runs in a coroutine after onNotificationPosted, so a blocked item is visible in the status bar for the request duration, then disappears.

Does blocking an SMS delete it from my inbox?

Only the notification it posted. This app is not the default SMS app and does not try to become one, so the message stays in the inbox and conversation list while the interruption is removed.

What do I need to build and run it?

JDK 17, Android SDK 37 as compileSdk with minSdk 29, and an API key for the backend. Build with `./gradlew assembleDebug`, then grant notification access and SMS permission, open Settings then JevAPI, enter the key and press Test connection. Without a valid key every decision fails open and nothing is ever blocked.

How are my API key and proxy credentials stored?

In plaintext in the app's private Preferences DataStore, with no Keystore-backed encryption, which the README calls a deliberate trade-off. On a rooted device any root process can read them, and they may be included in device backups or extractions, so do not supply a key you cannot rotate.

Is this production-ready, and where does the TypeSafe client live?

No: it is early, developed against a single device, with some paths unit-tested and others only run by hand, so the author calls it a personal tool that happens to be public. The TypeSafe client is not in this repo; it is a Kotlin port of @typesafe-ai/sdk@0.6.0 living in ufec/typesafe-sdk-kotlin and consumed via JitPack, carrying its own LICENSE and NOTICE.
