THE HUNDRED EYES

Interactive media artwork where one post meets 100 fictional observers: for each observer the app asks Jev one Choice plus four Score questions (500 questions total), animates the eyes in Three.js and later exposes the full distribution of reactions in a post-analytics view.

About this project

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Each of the 100 fictional observers gets one intuition Choice and four Scores (interest, liking, discomfort, urge to speak) -- 500 questions in total.
  • Requests go as four batches of 25 in parallel; the artwork renders only when all 100 valid responses arrive, otherwise the previous result is kept.
  • Without an API key the piece runs on simple in-device heuristic judgments; with a key, set TYPESAFE_API_KEY and JEV_MODEL in .env.local.
  • Built with Next.js, React, Three.js and Web Audio; deployed at eyes.mintan.org and released under the MIT License.
  • The README stresses faces, lines and voice reach are authored, not Jev-generated; the piece is fiction, not real people or X statistics.

Watch out

MIT licensed; a TypeSafe key is optional because a local heuristic fallback runs the artwork. The README is primarily Japanese, and it notes the artwork is fictional and receives no TypeSafe endorsement.

Three.js simulation where an OpenAI model turns each plain-language instruction into a plan and Jev makes every reflex decision: two Score questions for move and turn plus one Noul for jump, with code acting only past a 0.33 dead zone and sending no Jev request while no step is active.
