Ego Jev Ultrafast

A single-file port of jev-ultrafast that lets Jev drive an Ego Lite browser on macOS: an in-page script indexes visible controls and one typed-choice request returns both the operation and the target index.

About this project

ego-jev-ultrafast: Jev drives your Ego Lite browser. A single-file, zero-dependency port of browser-use/jev-ultrafast with multi-model benchmarks and extra guardrails. You give it a goal in plain language ("find one-way flights from Zurich to London on October 20"), and it clicks, types, and scrolls through the site until the goal is done. It runs in your real browser window, with your logged-in sessions, not in a headless sandbox.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • No screenshots and no second call: the indexed action table goes out in one typed-choice request returning CLICK, TYPE_TEXT, SELECT, WAIT or DONE plus an index.
  • The model can only pick indices from the table it was shown, and the executor re-validates the element against a page fingerprint before input fires.
  • Runs in your real browser window with your logged-in sessions, and stops immediately if you take over the task space.
  • Budgets are hard: 60 actions and 120 model calls per run, plus an automatic stop after three consecutive no-op actions.

Watch out

Every step sends the page URL, title, up to 6000 characters of visible text, control labels and ordinary input values to api.typesafe.ai, and typing additionally sends page context to your configured OpenAI-compatible text endpoint. Password, file and hidden inputs are excluded, but the README says not to run it on pages with sensitive information unless you accept those destinations. macOS with Ego Lite is required. The keyword gate is a denylist a cleverly worded button can pass, and link URLs are not inspected. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

jev-filter is a CLI that filters tool output before it reaches your agent and, since 0.3, drives web pages and desktop apps too. Jev picks the next operation and its target among controls the program enumerates itself; the program re-checks and executes, and irreversible steps stop for confirmation.

An eval that puts Jev two questions about shadcn-ui/lint: whether each finding is a real rule violation, and whether the linter's message tells you what to change. It runs the real linter over 131 rule test cases and scores both the detections and the messages.

Most Jev accuracy problems are state problems. What belongs in a state, what is a pre-made judgment to leave out, and why naming the slice you ask about matters more than the wording.
