Watch out
This is a JMeter plugin, not a library: it ships as a JAR into lib/ext or through the Plugins Manager, and a good part of it is interface - a companion pet, a chime, a model picker. The optional Jev route is one feature among many, and nothing in the README says how it decides among intents or how often it hands back the full tool pack. Telemetry is not zero: one anonymous ping per day, with a documented opt-out, which matters in a locked-down environment. Agent Mode and file attachments do route content to whichever provider you configure. The captured README stops during the provider configuration tables, so the CLI-provider setup and privacy sections were not visible. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Optional, and it is not only a chat window. Jev routing is described as optional intent routing that gives Agent Mode a focused tool pack, shows a route and confidence card, and falls back to the full tool set automatically. Without it you still get multi-model chat, context commands such as @optimize and @lint, JSR223 refactoring and token streaming.
Whatever you send to a model goes to the provider you configured, and file attachments forward digests of jmeter.log or .jtl and .csv results - percentiles and error breakdowns - rather than raw dumps. The plugin's own daily anonymous ping is documented as carrying no prompts, keys or test-plan content, and there is a documented way to turn it off.
That is a documented use case. Base URLs are configurable, there is a corporate-gateway section, extra headers are passed as semicolon-separated name=value pairs, and you can set an explicit model list for gateways that do not expose model discovery. One trap: SDK retries default to 2 on 429 and 5xx, which the README suggests setting to 0 behind a quota-limited gateway.
No, the README keeps them separate: an interactive terminal runs Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Antigravity or Grok CLI inside JMeter, while chat goes through API providers or CLI-managed subscriptions. There is a behavioural difference - API responses stream token by token with a stop button, whereas CLI-backed requests return one completed answer.
Install through the JMeter Plugins Manager by searching for feather wand, or drop the latest JAR into lib/ext and copy jmeter-ai-sample.properties into jmeter.properties or user.properties, then restart JMeter.
A live readout shows context-window fill and estimated session cost. It uses server-reported usage when a provider supplies it and a marked local estimate otherwise, so the figure is labelled rather than assumed exact.
Chats autosave to ~/.jmeter-ai/sessions/ and can be restored after a restart. Any conversation can be exported to Markdown or HTML for your test reports.
