About this project

Essays and writing behind this toolkit live at vexjoy.com. VexJoy Agent connects plain-English requests to specialist agents, skills, and workflows. /do selects the knowledge and tools needed for your task. Hooks enforce specific checks, and scripts handle repeatable work. The aim is to give capable models useful domain knowledge without making you learn the toolkit's catalog.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • The router requires Jev to classify a request and confirm the chosen route still preserves the stated outcome.
  • Hook coverage is uneven by runtime: Codex mirrors 59 of 70 Claude hook registrations, 29 native and 30 adapter-backed.
  • The installer writes into agent CLI homes, symlinks by default so git pull propagates, or copies for a stable install.
  • Skills are markdown files with triggers, phased instructions, evidence requirements, and conditional reference loading.

Watch out

The enforcement story is partial and the README says so: hooks run only at configured events and coverage depends on the runtime and tool path, with Codex missing 11 of 70 registrations and unable to intercept writes that go through unified execution, unmatched MCP tools, or web search. Codex also hash-trusts hook commands and skips changed definitions until you run its hook review. Installing means running a shell script that writes into up to five agent CLI homes and, by default, moves pre-existing unowned copies to the trash, so read the layout doc and start with a dry run. The optional auto-compact plugin and the intent-gated router both need a Jev key, and the nightly evolution loop is described as currently dormant. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
