A small, bounded browser loop that joins ego-lite browser control with TypeSafe Jev decisions: ego-lite snapshot → canonical state plus candidate set → Jev choice → optional text model → ego-lite action → new snapshot. It is deliberately not a general-purpose browser agent.
Only a supported operation and a target drawn from the current ego snapshot. It never receives or emits JavaScript, CSS selectors, browser coordinates or an action ref; the executor maps the chosen opaque candidate back to a ref observed in that same snapshot and discards it after acting.
Node >=22.15.0 <27 (checked baseline 26.7.0), npm 11.19.0, an installed and connected ego-lite ego-browser command, and TYPESAFE_API_KEY. TEXT_MODEL_API_KEY (or OPENAI_API_KEY) and TEXT_MODEL are only needed when Jev selects TYPE_TEXT.
git clone, cd ego-jev, npm ci, cp .env.example .env, then set the keys and TEXT_MODEL. Confirm with ego-browser --version and npm run check; after npm link, run ego-jev --url ... --goal ... or use npm run start -- with the same arguments.
npm run smoke:wikipedia is the same live end-to-end run with a bounded 12-action budget. It needs both credentials because the example first types a search phrase; npm run smoke:runtime:wikipedia is the credential-free, deterministic ego-lite adapter smoke that tests no Jev request.
--max-steps 1..100 (default 12), --log-dir (default .ego-jev-runs), --space-name (default ego-jev) and --keep-space, which leaves a successful TaskSpace open. On BLOCKED, max steps or an error the space is left open for inspection.
It is an MVP pinned to exact baselines — Node 26.7.0, npm 11.19.0, TypeScript 5.8.3, dotenv 16.6.1 — and checked against ego-lite 0.5.0.28. It calls the OpenAI Responses API with structured output rather than Chat Completions, and the README excerpt truncates inside the action table.
