Openrouter Jev MCP

A Python decision gateway and stdio MCP server that exposes Jev through OpenRouter's alpha decisions endpoint. Five tools cover yes/no checks, classification, scoring, multi-question evaluation and health, with bounded retries, validated answers and local diagnostics.

About this project

An independent community project, unaffiliated with TypeSafe or OpenRouter. The supported environment is Linux with Python 3.13; Windows is unsupported because diagnostic locking uses POSIX facilities. Coding agents repeatedly encounter small, bounded questions that can benefit from a separate model judgement:

Highlights

  • Five MCP tools: jev_check (noul), jev_classify (choice), jev_score, jev_evaluate for multi-question batches and jev_health diagnostics.
  • Uses an OpenRouter key on the alpha decisions endpoint with the ~typesafe/jev-latest alias; native TypeSafe keys are not supported.
  • Bounded retries of up to three attempts on transient HTTP codes with exponential backoff from 0.25 s and a 20-second deadline.
  • Malformed JSON, missing answers and invalid values produce structured errors; failures are treated as no judgement.
  • Local diagnostics log to ~/.local/state/jev-gateway with owner-only permissions, a 20 MiB cap and 24-hour retention.

Watch out

MIT-licensed community project unaffiliated with TypeSafe or OpenRouter. It depends on an alpha OpenRouter endpoint whose availability and contract may change, and Linux with Python 3.13 is the supported environment.

Original write-ups on what this entry is for.

The request shape barely changes across surfaces; the surrounding contract does. When to call the API directly and when a gateway, a Worker binding, or a router entry earns its extra hop.
