Jev Organize

A Node CLI that reads a folder of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, email, CSV, HTML, code and text files, classifies each with Jev on OpenRouter, and writes a catalog, an INDEX.md and an offline report. Originals are never moved.

About this project

Throw in a pile of company files. Get them classified, organized and indexed for people and AI agents. jev-organize reads every file in a folder (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, email, CSV, HTML, code, plain text) and classifies each one with TypeSafe's Jev decision model on OpenRouter: Then it writes a catalog, an INDEX.md map, an offline HTML report, and (when you say so) an organized copy of everything: The originals are never moved, renamed, edited or deleted.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Code finds every date and company name in a file and Jev picks the document's own date and the counterparty, never picking your own company.
  • Regex detectors for card numbers, IBAN checksums and key formats set a sensitivity floor, so a salary column forces restricted whatever the file claims.
  • Every Jev call is cached by the exact request sent, so changing a threshold or folder layout and re-running costs nothing for unchanged files.
  • On 61 example files department landed 55 of 56 and document type 54 of 56, while a path-only mode drops department to 89% and date to 30%.

Watch out

The accuracy figures come from a fictional 61-file example export with hand labels in examples/labels.json, not from a real customer corpus, and most rows count 56 files because duplicates and noise are scored separately. The author names the misses rather than rounding them away: six internal-versus-confidential disagreements, a complaint email marked restricted instead of confidential, a stock-sync script filed under operations rather than engineering at confidence 0.58 to 0.65 right at the 0.6 review line, and two type labels where the hand label and the default taxonomy disagree. Timing and cost assume OpenRouter with eight files in parallel. Needs Node 22.9+ and an OpenRouter key, and the Claude skill has to enable network access for the sandbox. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
