Judge Rails

A Ruby gem that turns typed Jev judgments into ordinary ActiveRecord attributes: Noul, Choice and Score answers become indexable, sortable columns with SQL scopes like urgency_above(0.8). It also works as a plain Ruby client with no Rails.

Highlights

  • judge_source declares what text to judge; judge_attribute adds a Noul, Choice or Score column with scopes such as urgency_above(0.8) and intent_is.
  • Answers are stored as indexable columns, so filtering and sorting never call the API; three judgments cost one API call per record, and queries cost none.
  • Setup is a generator away: judge:install, then judge:attribute Ticket urgency:noul intent:choice frustration:score and db:migrate.
  • The demo boots with 250 support tickets already judged, seeded from a committed file, so it needs no key at all.
  • Object-form criteria (what, not_for, examples) raised demo agreement about four points for ~290 extra input tokens per ticket, per BENCHMARK.md arm 8.

Quickstart

bash
bin/rails generate judge:install
bin/rails generate judge:attribute Ticket urgency:noul intent:choice frustration:score
bin/rails db:migrate

Watch out

Grounded in the truncated repo README and GitHub metadata read on 2026-10-15; the excerpt ends mid-way through the question-fingerprint section. The benchmark labels come from two model annotators rather than people, BENCHMARK.md is in French, and TypeSafe Jev is reached through an early-access waitlist, so bundle install alone will not get you working.
