Jev Verify

Node.js CLI that checks whether published Jev outputs were actually produced by Jev: it recomputes the Yurin confidence identity and the expected-score formula over a repository's artifacts and flags fixtures that violate them. No API calls, no dependencies, Node 18+.

About this project

Check whether a published Jev output was actually produced by Jev. Jev's confidence is a deterministic function of the probabilities it already returned. That means any published Jev answer can be recomputed and checked. Point this at a repository and it tells you which answers obey the identities and which do not. The confidence identity is not our discovery. It was established by Stanislav Yurin, "Is Jev confident?" (bernoulli.app, 18 September 2026), from over a million live tests:

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Implements three identities: probabilities sum to 1, Yurin confidence, and expected score.
  • The ecosystem census checked 275,852 categorical answers across 1,054 of 1,061 repos.
  • Fabrication flags landed only in hand-authored fixtures, never in vendor or recorded responses.
  • Some flagged fixtures have confidence equal to the fractional part of score (2.58 gives 0.58).
  • Ships 30 known-answer tests and a symbolic-regression script that recovers confidence laws blind.

Watch out

MIT licensed. Covers Choice and Score only, since Noul carries no confidence to check, and makes no live API call, so every number comes from published artifacts. A deviation means the output does not obey the identities real outputs obey, not proven fabrication.

Independent pre-registered audit of Jev on Spanish: 19,200 calls over 3,200 paired items on XNLI, PAWS-X, MASSIVE and Belebele. A Spanish state costs 3.0-6.4 accuracy points and roughly doubles ECE on the two hardest tasks, while Spanish instructions change nothing; a CLI reruns the same comparison on your own data.

Reproducible benchmark asking which approved agent answers changed meaning after a config edit: one Jev Choice (same, fact_differs, action_differs, specificity_differs) caught all 19 real changes with 13 false alarms across 109 before/after pairs, versus 33 for a three-tier stack and 19 for an LLM judge.
