Jev Secret Guard

A Claude Code PreToolUse hook that blocks known key formats locally and sends only masked unknown high-entropy strings to Jev for a Noul judgment, blocking at 0.80 and asking the human from 0.30 or whenever Jev is unavailable.

About this project

A Claude Code hook that stops your agent from writing, committing or sending secrets. Known key formats are blocked instantly on your machine. Unknown ones go to Jev (TypeSafe's System One model), masked, so checking for a leak never causes one. 12 unknown-format strings, masked exactly as in real use: Get a key at console.typesafe.ai/keys and set TYPESAFEAPIKEY. Without it, known formats are still blocked and unknown ones ask you.

Highlights

  • Calibration on 12 masked unknown-format strings: 6 of 6 secrets blocked (scores 0.85-0.90) and 0 of 6 benign strings blocked.
  • Jev sees only the first three characters, the length, the character set and up to 300 surrounding characters with the value replaced.
  • Settings: JEV_SECRET_BLOCK 0.80, JEV_SECRET_ASK 0.30, JEV_SECRET_TIMEOUT 3 s and JEV_MODEL jev-latest.
  • The matcher covers Write, Edit and Bash; placeholders, commit hashes and file paths are ignored entirely.

Watch out

Unknown-format detection depends on Jev availability and quality, and offline tests use a fake Jev. MIT licensed; the author built it with Claude Code assistance.

Cisco's security scanner for agent skills added a System One analyzer: it sends the full skill text to POST /v1/systemone as one advisory Noul question and records the probability, while being deliberately unable to emit a finding or change a severity.

Kernel-enforced runtime security for AI agents with eBPF/LSM: policy decides file, exec, package-install and MCP operations at the syscall, while Jev can run as an optional checks provider whose verdict can only raise severity. The Jev checks layer is off by default.

Claude Code PreToolUse hook that asks Jev one Noul on whether a Bash command is strictly read-only and auto-approves at p of 0.95 or higher. It can only allow or stay silent, never deny, so unknown or risky commands fall back to Claude Code's normal permission prompt.

Permission gate extension for the pi coding agent: deterministic allow/deny rules and protected paths settle clear cases first, then gray-zone tool calls get one structured classify() verdict; Jev is an optional native classifier via TypeSafe direct, OpenRouter, or other gateways, failing closed on error.

Fuzzy linter hook for Claude Code and Codex: after the agent edits a file, it sends the added code to Jev, which answers Noul checks against team rule packs in about 0.3 seconds, letting the agent fix violations before code review.

The request shape barely changes across surfaces; the surrounding contract does. When to call the API directly and when a gateway, a Worker binding, or a router entry earns its extra hop.
