Jev Desktop lets AI agents use Windows applications through MCP or the command line. Hand off a task and let Jev observe windows, choose controls, type supplied text, and navigate locally. Your agent gets the result or a request for help instead of handling every click.

Highlights

  • Four MCP tools: desktop_run, desktop_inspect, desktop_act and desktop_stop; tasks report actions, time and token usage.
  • Jev runs the action loop inside the broker with structured observations, not a screenshot per action to the calling agent.
  • Requires Windows 10/11 with an interactive desktop session and Python 3.12+; a TypeSafe key only when Jev selects controls.
  • Sensitive values go in secret_texts so Jev sees only their names, not the passwords themselves.
  • Installable as a Codex or Claude Code plugin, or wired into any MCP client as python -m jev_desktop.transports.mcp_stdio.

Watch out

Copy reviewed against the repo README on 2026-10-15; the project badge says alpha and the README warns to check the final observation before reporting success. The broker does not auto-load dotenv files, and our excerpt cuts off inside the tool table, so the full reference is not covered here.
