About this project

A tiny open decision model (0.8B, no text generation, no vision) controlling Doom in real time, on your own machine.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Sends health, ammo, enemies, depth, and recent actions as text; the model picks one of 7 actions and reports crosshair state per step.
  • Runs near 40 ms per decision on a GPU with zero output tokens; remote API play takes longer and supports a slower tick option.
  • Three ways to run: hosted API key, local open weights on GPU or Apple Silicon, or any server speaking the same systemone contract.
  • Ships ViZDoom scenarios with skill, seed, HUD language, recording, and headless flags; the model never saw Doom in training.

Watch out

Game demo over an open model; gameplay skill is illustrative, not a capability claim. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

Jev takes text only; Clef-omni adds image, audio, and video input and Liquid d1 adds images, each keeping the same typed-answer shape. Where that matters, where it does not, and the costs the vendors underplay.
