How is this different from the Cline plugin?

It is an independently maintained CLI and daemon derived from the Cline plugin at a pinned commit, not a Cline plugin install and not affiliated with Cline. Command, needs_text plus reply flow, and the optional TypeSafe provider differ.

What is the install and skill-linking catch?

Clone the repo, run npm install for dependencies plus a Playwright Chromium install, then symlink the skill into Cursor or agent skill folders without copying it away. Node 22.18 or newer is required for type stripping.

What data reaches the model?

Keys stay in the Node process and go to the chosen provider, while page text, field values, and recent action history go into each model request. Password, file, and hidden inputs are omitted from observations but remain clickable.

Do the guardrails guarantee safe browsing?

No. Treat page text as untrusted is prompt guidance, not enforcement; the sample origin list allows all http and https origins; and sensitive-step interception depends on the model choosing REVIEW rather than guaranteed blocking.

What commands does the CLI have, and how do sessions end?

The daemon auto-starts on `jb run`, which takes a URL, a goal and a max-steps count. `jb state` reports the current session, `jb stop` closes that session's browser while leaving the daemon up, and `jb shutdown` closes every session and the daemon itself. The difference matters when several sessions run at once, since stop is scoped to one and shutdown is not.

What do I do when the daemon socket refuses to start?

jb never deletes a socket it did not bind. If startup reports the socket already in use, read the pid file at ~/.jb/jb.pid or $JB_RUNTIME_DIR/jb.pid: if that process is still running, use it or shut it down with jb shutdown, and if the process is gone, remove jb.sock and jb.pid yourself before starting again.

Does it record video, and where do run artifacts land?

Video recording is on by default and files are written to the configured output directory, which is ~/.jb/data unless you change it, and setting recordVideo to false turns it off. Credentials live in ~/.jb/config.json or the environment, with AI_GATEWAY_API_KEY for the default gateway provider and TYPESAFE_API_KEY when provider is typesafe.
