About this project

Gut Check gives your Home Assistant install a weekly checkup. It finds entities that stopped reporting, updates that might break something, and integrations that quietly failed to start. It also suggests fixes for loose ends: devices with no area, sensors with no type, and clutter on your dashboards. Jev, a decision model from TypeSafe AI, makes the judgment calls and says how sure it is, and Gut Check leaves alone anything it isn't sure about. Anything that needs you waits in Settings > Repairs for you to act on…

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Runs eight checks covering health, updates, areas, device classes, stuck integrations, critical labels, diagnostics, and recorder load.
  • Sorts unavailable entities and stuck integrations into expected, fixable, or removable causes with Repairs cards and links.
  • Scores pending updates from release notes and suggests areas, sensor types, hidden diagnostics, and recorder exclusions.
  • Asks Jev for judgment calls with confidence and skips action when confidence is too low.

Watch out

Suggestions wait as Repairs cards for action or dismissal; recorder settings are never changed automatically and uncertain items are left alone. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
