El Jev

A fast typed-decision sidecar and GitHub Copilot CLI pre-turn hook that mimics Jev's choice, noul and score primitives on Azure AI Foundry Cohere with keyless Entra ID auth. By default, non-trivial decisions stay advisory until calibration is fitted on labelled data.

Highlights

  • Mimics Jev's choice, noul and score primitives with Foundry-hosted Cohere relevance scores converted into decision probabilities.
  • Auditable abstention first: non-trivial decisions stay advisory by default until calibration is fitted on labelled data.
  • The Copilot hook adds guidance to the prompt only; Copilot still runs every turn and may follow or override the decision.
  • v0.2.0 added unified config resolution (env over config.json over defaults), eljev configure and hook lifecycle commands, and fail-closed engine handling.
  • Measured on one machine: Cohere rerank warm p50 of roughly 175-183 ms on common flows, from runs dated 2026-09-24 and 2026-09-30.

Watch out

Copy reviewed against the repo README on 2026-10-15; latency numbers are single-machine measurements the author says are not cross-environment SLAs, and the README is truncated in the digest around its latency section. Only a local sidecar deployment is supported: a shared remote service would need HTTPS, client authentication, tenant isolation and rate limiting.
