Jev Carryforward

An MCP server with two tools for agent memory: record writes facts into a per-project ledger as they happen, and recall scores each one against the task you are starting and hands back only what matters.

About this project

What your last session knew, scored against what this one is doing. An MCP server with two tools. record saves a fact the moment it happens. recall brings those facts back when you start a task, and uses Jev to keep only the ones that matter right now. Nothing is summarised. Nothing is deleted. Your session ends, or it gets compacted halfway through. The next one starts from a summary, and summaries lose things: The reason behind a decision is gone, so you argue about it again.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Recall asks Jev one yes-or-no question per entry — is this still live for the task starting now — and above 0.60 you get the full text, below 0.30 nothing.
  • Constraints and corrections are never sent to the model and always return whole; decisions, measurements and threads must cite a real commit, file or link.
  • Every entry records where it came from, one of measured, decided, told or inferred, so a guess is not repeated later as a fact.
  • In the author's own eval suite the agent called recall zero times out of four runs with the tools installed, which is why a SessionStart hook injects the rules.

Watch out

The accuracy claim is explicitly withheld: the README says nine entries across three tasks is a hint, not proof, and that there is no accuracy claim until there is a proper test behind it. What is demonstrated is the opposite of what you might hope — with the tools available and the skill installed, the agent still never reached for recall. Nothing is ever summarized or deleted, so the file only grows and maintenance is yours. Scoring needs Node 22+, npx and an AI Gateway key; without a key everything still works and recall returns the whole list plus a line saying it could not sort. Desktop MCP clients start outside your project directory, so without CARRYFORWARD_PROJECT set per project they all share one file. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
