Plotveil

PlotVeil is a Chrome extension that hides YouTube comments until a single typed Noul decision says the comment gives away the video you are on. The rule text travels from the extension to a Cloudflare Worker, which batches up to 20 comments per call and never sees the word spoiler.

About this project

Keep the surprises. A quiet spoiler blocker for YouTube comments. PlotVeil covers a comment while it is being checked, and keeps it covered if the check says it would give the story away. It is not a keyword blocklist: a comment is hidden because, read against the video you are on, it discloses a concrete plot event — not because it contains the word "dies". Website and install instructions: . The Chrome Web Store listing is under review; until then the site serves a zip to load as an unpacked extension.

Highlights

  • The judgment is one Noul per comment from Jev, with no chat model and no free-text generation anywhere in the path.
  • The threshold belongs to application code, not the model: easygoing 0.85, standard 0.7, cautious 0.5, so lowering it covers more and raises false positives.
  • Network errors, quota rejections and malformed answers leave the comment covered; revealing is your explicit click, and a Veil Keeper button re-covers it.
  • The Worker holds no product wording, since the rule text is data sent by the extension, and the API key exists only as a Worker secret.

Watch out

There is no Chrome Web Store listing yet, so installing means loading a zip from the project's site as an unpacked extension. The published evaluation is 10 hand-written synthetic samples in English, Chinese and Japanese including prompt injection; both rule versions scored 10 of 10 and input tokens fell about 9%, which the README calls a regression check rather than a cross-language accuracy claim, and the single-run latency it records is not a benchmark. Comment text, the video title and channel, and any titles you protect do leave your machine, and comment text can contain personal information. Only YouTube is supported; Bilibili and Japanese danmaku sites would share the same core but are not built yet. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
