Cube Lab

An interactive Three.js Rubik's Cube that walks the seven-step beginner method: local planners generate candidate formulas from the real sticker state, Jev chooses between them through Choice questions, and a local Node proxy keeps your API key in the browser while requests go to TypeSafe's System One API.

Highlights

  • Local planners do the search; Jev receives the stage rules, all 54 stickers, candidates and expected effects, and answers with a candidate ID or pause.
  • Step 1 ships tests: node --test cross.test.js covers 60 seeded 25-move scrambles plus stop, stale-response and state-mismatch paths.
  • Scrambles play 20 real layer turns using SpaceJoe recordings (CC0); other turns are locked and the timer stays at zero during the scramble.
  • Runs on Node 18+ with node server.js at http://127.0.0.1:8787; the proxy binds to localhost and the Jev key stays in browser localStorage.
  • One-click mode falls back to locally simulated safe candidates when Jev pauses or returns invalid options, and never claims Jev decided when it did not.

Quickstart

bash
node server.js
# then open http://127.0.0.1:8787/

Watch out

Grounded in the Chinese-language README and GitHub metadata reviewed on 2026-10-15; the README says steps 2-7 are syntax-checked only, never run against real Jev and not end-to-end tested, step 1 starts from the actual scrambled state, and the 3D engine loads from the network. No licence is listed.
