An unofficial changelog for Earth that renders recent reporting as game patch notes. A scheduled GitHub Actions job collects stories, Groq picks headlines for worldwide relevance and writes the patch titles, and the result is committed as saved editions the site, API and RSS read.

New species. Balance changes. Unresolved bugs. A few good things on Earth, one patch at a time. Live site · Run locally · How it works · Contribute. What if the news read like a game's patch notes? changelog.earth collects recent reporting and turns selected headlines into short planetary updates. Open a story's info button for the original headline, publisher summary and source link. The examples above illustrate the editorial style; the feed changes as new stories arrive.

Watch out
Collection needs a Groq key and GROQ_MODEL, plus an ARCHIVE_SECRET shared between the hosting environment and the repository's Actions secret; a missing or wrong bearer token gets HTTP 401 before any feed or AI call. Without a key the app still serves the saved archive but selects nothing new. GDELT dates reflect indexing time rather than publication time, and the event vocabulary is explicitly a draft. The digest does not enumerate which RSS feeds lib/rss-feeds.mjs ships by default beyond RSS, GDELT and Spaceflight News. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
