About this project

Pi Codemode is a Pi extension that replaces many small tool calls with one typed executetools call. The model writes a TypeScript code body, Pi type-checks it, then runs it in a sandbox with explicit tool globals. Install the package in Pi as an extension package, then start Pi in a project as usual. Codemode starts in configured mode; the default is on, which exposes executetools plus Pi's normal non-bash tools. /codemode on exposes executetools plus normal non-bash tools, write-locked to the project root.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Single execute_tools call takes a TypeScript body, type-checks it first, then runs it with explicit tool globals.
  • Mode commands switch between locked-down, bash-enabled, and normal Pi toolsets with a documented write-door matrix.
  • Built-in read, write, edit, MCP discovery, typed CLI operations, npm-script helpers, and print output capture.
  • Optional Jev decision forensic calls composed in code with key resolution from environment, config, or key file.

Watch out

Pi extension setup with mode commands to learn; write behavior changes sharply between on, yolo, and off modes. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

The request shape barely changes across surfaces; the surrounding contract does. When to call the API directly and when a gateway, a Worker binding, or a router entry earns its extra hop.
