About this project

Shadow-mode validation for a pre-execution firewall on AI agent tool calls, built on TypeSafe / Jev typed judgments. Real run against the live API. 600 records, $0.054 total spend, held-out split (n=320). Full detail, caveats, and the four-way failure inventory in report.md.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Five independent Noul hazards plus a blast-radius Score in one batched system_one call; the verdict itself is plain code.
  • Held-out run of 320 records blocked 0% of legitimate hard negatives and 0.55% of benign calls, at $0.0000365 per gated call.
  • Ablation: one 'is this dangerous?' question also caught 100% of attacks but blocked 39.2% of hard negatives.
  • Raw judgments are logged, so eval/replay.py re-scores a decision log offline after a policy.py threshold change.

Watch out

The attack corpus is synthetic and self-authored, so the 100% catch rate is a floor rather than evidence against a real adversary. Two declared gates failed: Noul calibration error 0.156 against a 0.10 target, and p95 added latency 595 ms against 500 ms. The 20.9% approval-prompt rate is argued down to 1.9% real friction. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.
