About this project

Cut the noise on your X timeline with Jev. A personal-use Chrome extension that scores posts on five dimensions and lets your sliders decide what stays visible, gets dimmed, or gets collapsed. No summaries. No reordering. Every collapsed post has a Show anyway button. The extension appears in Chrome as Cut the Noise.

Quoted from the project's README. Read the full README.

Highlights

  • Asks five independent Score questions per post in one request, caches the scores, and re-decides locally when a slider moves.
  • Runs on home timelines and lists only; DMs, notifications, profiles and search pages are not processed.
  • Posts with no extractable text are left alone, low-confidence results are never collapsed, and allowlisted authors skip scoring.
  • Batches up to 12 posts per request; the worker caps text at 1,000 characters and caches scores in KV for 30 days.

Watch out

Post text and your interests leave your browser: they go to your own Cloudflare Worker and, on a cache miss, to TypeSafe. Protected posts are not detected, so a protected-account post visible on your timeline can be processed. Only text is analyzed, and long text is truncated. Browser caches key by post rather than interests, so changing interests can reuse stale relevance scores until those caches are cleared. DOM integration is experimental and X markup changes will break extraction or display behavior. The dim and collapse thresholds are prototype defaults, not accuracy guarantees. This is a personal-use prototype and X's current terms and automation policies apply. Copy reviewed against the repository README on 2026-10-04, not from running it.

The request shape barely changes across surfaces; the surrounding contract does. When to call the API directly and when a gateway, a Worker binding, or a router entry earns its extra hop.
