Highlights
- Jev returns typed Choice, Score, and Boolean answers with probabilities, not generated prose.
- AI SDK 7.0.105+ exposes the model through experimental_evaluate with model typesafe-ai/jev.
- Example routes a refund case using a boolean question and providerOptions.gateway.zeroDataRetention.
- TypeSafe confidence for Choice and Score lives under result.providerMetadata.typesafe.confidence.
Quickstart
ts
import { experimental_evaluate as evaluate } from 'ai';
const result = await evaluate({
model: 'typesafe-ai/jev',
state: 'The support agent issued a full refund to the customer.',
questions: {
refunded: { type: 'boolean', instructions: 'Was a refund issued?' },
},
});Watch out
Changelog entry, not a benchmark. Distinct from the longer Vercel KB evaluate guide already listed.
Questions about this entry
Short answers drawn from the linked project or page.
Experimental. It arrives through AI SDK 7's experimental_evaluate, and the changelog pins support to 7.0.105 onwards, telling you to install the current SDK. Expect churn in the evaluate shape.
Only if you ask. The example sets providerOptions.gateway.zeroDataRetention to true per request and No Training works the same way, so retention depends on options you set. Evaluation calls still appear in logs and count toward budgets.
Under result.providerMetadata.typesafe.confidence, reported separately for Choice and Score questions. The result otherwise preserves your question IDs and the Choice keys, so map answers back by the IDs you supplied.
Same shape, different name: the changelog calls the third primitive Boolean and says it estimates the probability of true. Since the SDK type names do not match the native API's, check which keys pass through before assuming they work verbatim.
The changelog says TypeSafe reports Jev was up to 193.6x faster and 444.6x cheaper than LLMs on its workflow evaluations. The figure is attributed to TypeSafe rather than an independent test, so treat it as a vendor claim.
Calibrate probabilities and confidence against labeled examples from your own workflow. TypeSafe reports separate Choice and Score confidence in result.providerMetadata.typesafe.confidence, and the changelog frames the typed answers as automating clear cases and routing uncertain ones to review.
Yes. Evaluation calls appear in logs and custom reporting, count toward budgets, and accept other Gateway provider options in the same providerOptions.gateway object. Zero Data Retention and No Training are enabled per request in the example.

The typed-answer shape removes a category of data risk, not all of it. Zero data retention per surface, the legal set to read, and the controls that remain yours to run.
