Is this an official TypeSafe product, and should I trust it with my key?

It says plainly that it is an independent community project, not an official TypeSafe AI product, production agent harness, or any claim that a typed answer is correct. The server-side key is never sent to the browser and must not be prefixed NEXT_PUBLIC_. A personal key typed into the header takes a different path and persists in unencrypted localStorage, so treat that one as disposable.

Do I need a TypeSafe key just to browse and edit examples?

No. You can browse and edit examples without a key; explicitly mocked demos and local solver or simulation paths need no live Jev calls. Only controls labeled Live Jev require a configured key, and /api/health reports whether the server has one. Locally it needs Node.js 22.3+ and the pnpm version pinned in package.json, currently 10.34.5, with dev on port 3042.

Will the scores in the IQ test and puzzle demos mean anything?

The README is blunt about it: a single run is not a validated accuracy, fairness or consistency benchmark; the IQ estimate is an uncalibrated heuristic with local demo and live runs kept separate; puzzle reference notes are teaching aids; and subjective judgments have no universal answer key. The chess workspace exists specifically to show the limits of legal-move selection without lookahead.

Does anything I type in there get applied or shared?

Nothing is applied. The proposal review workspace lets an agent propose one patch, has Jev answer four yes/no questions, and lets a fixed decision table decide, with receipts in mock and live modes. Custom examples and drafts persist in browser storage for that origin and are not restored after refresh, and exported input may contain private text, so the README advises reviewing files before sharing.

How do I run the playground locally?

Use Node.js 22.3+ and the exact pnpm version pinned in package.json, currently 10.34.5; a local guard rejects other package managers. Clone the repo, pnpm install --frozen-lockfile, copy .env.example to .env.local, then pnpm dev and open the dedicated development address http://localhost:3042.

Can I keep the API key out of a plaintext file?

Yes. pnpm dev:op runs the app through the 1Password CLI using a committed .env.1password that holds a reference, not a secret, so the key never lands in a file. It needs 1Password CLI 2.x unlocked, and the /api/health endpoint reports configured:true once the server actually has a key.

What does Ask gate send to Jev for each question?

Accepted Answer

It caches docs.typesafe.ai/llms-full.txt for 10 minutes and sends at most eight shortlisted passages to Jev per question. The workspace checks official documentation first, then earlier messages, then routes to a human, retaining supporting citations. Other workspaces follow the same pattern of local candidate selection followed by a typed Jev choice.
