typesafe-computer-use

A macOS computer-use loop that OCRs the screen, asks Jev for the next action with typed Choices, and clicks, at about $0.0002 per decision without sending screenshots to a frontier model.

Highlights

  • Reads the screen with macOS Vision OCR plus the accessibility tree, then sends one TypeSafe request with up to three Choices to pick the next action.
  • Measured $0.0002 per decision and 0.13-0.38 s model latency, versus $0.032 and 5.2 s for Claude Opus 5 on the same screenshot.
  • Runs up to 100 steps and stops on done or none, confidence below 0.4, two consecutive no-ops, a step limit, or Ctrl-C.
  • Only the main display is captured, and icon-only buttons in terminals, canvases, or Spotify reach neither OCR nor the accessibility tree.

Quickstart

bash
uv run clicker "open the Playground" # dry run: one step
uv run clicker "open the Playground" --act # drives the machine, up to 100 steps

Watch out

MIT-licensed. Needs macOS 14+, Python 3.12+, uv, a TYPESAFE_API_KEY, and Screen Recording plus Accessibility permissions; an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is optional for free-text typing.

Security decisions that fit Jev

This made me rethink where AI actually fits into security engineering. For purely engineering work, forget about ChatGPT or Claude. TypeSafe AI just released Jev, and I think it’s going to change how we build AI into security workflows. Instead of asking an LLM to “investigate Show more
