Highlights
- The same application rebuilt on Cerebras serving Qwen 3.8 27B, as an alternative to the TypeSafe version.
- Reported outcome: similar quality, similar performance, vastly different cost, with TypeSafe cheaper and ahead on performance.
- A follow-up adds a locally run needle model that performed worse than Jev, Qwen 3.8 27B and OSS 120B on an M4 Pro.
- The author concedes the local run was worse quality and far slower, and adds maybe I did something wrong on implementation.
Watch out
The comparison is one developer's summary of his own two builds, and the capture contains none of the evidence: no task set, no prompt, no score table, no cost figures, no token counts, no sampling settings and no environment. Similar quality, similar performance and vastly different cost are verdicts stated in words, with not a single number attached to any of them. The second post is weaker evidence still: the author himself says maybe I did something wrong on implementation, and a local model on an M4 Pro compared against hosted services differs in far more than the model, so that result does not isolate anything. A reply disputes the framing outright and asserts Jev performs badly at accuracy, which is an opinion with no measurement and cuts neither way. The repository the author links is referenced but its contents are not part of the capture, so nothing here has been checked against code. Copy reviewed against the linked page on 2026-10-04.
